The necessity of establishing a Faculty of Family Sciences


Reviewing previous research indicates that studies in the field of family, due to their interdisciplinary nature, multi-dimensionality, as well as the inherent socio-technical challenges in this field, are highly complex. Therefore, many researchers and academic institutions recommend that the community in this field should be diverse and pluralistic, but engage in focused and interconnected activities. This is why, worldwide, the field of family studies and disciplines is defined as an independent academic department, yet entirely interdisciplinary, aiming to offer appropriate solutions to various issues and challenges ahead. Regarding the necessity of establishing such a department, systematic studies have been conducted, concluding that all of them deem the formation of an independent department for family sciences and their issues necessary.

Thus, establishing and launching a specialized Family Studies department with an emphasis on providing specialized human resources in this field, in order to synergize the two realms of science and policy concerning the strengthening of the family foundation, increasing social, economic, and political participation of women, attention to the realm of family, its population, and health, indigenous knowledge production, revisiting and revising the curricula of related fields to reduce the challenges of this field, is essential. In general, the necessity of establishing a Family Sciences department is defined as follows:

- Concentration and establishment of a scientific, research, specialized, and executive base towards improving the role of the family in the social system, in the context of the family's perspective as the social foundation.
- Integration of existing interdisciplinary fields in family studies and related disciplines.
- Ecosystemization and multidimensional development of activities related to family, women, and population.
- Development of interdisciplinary studies with the aim of focusing on family health from the perspectives of social, physical, mental, spiritual, and intellectual health.
- Strengthening family-centric and women's social participation in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, family-centered economy, and family-based entrepreneurship.
- Designing mechanisms and programs for active and dynamic participation in the field of family-related issues and challenges.
- Designing operational mechanisms to cultivate and enhance the competencies of diligent researchers in the field of family.
